It was surprising when Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) decided to sign in Percept D Mark as event organizers substituting IMG for the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.

Nevertheless, IMG displayed its anger by claiming that FDCI used harsh strategies so as to persuade designers to participate in the event.

This controversy turned ugly when renowned designer, Tarun Tahiliani started seeking support from other designers for FDCI.

Many of the big fashion industry players have decided to back FDCI in these hard times.

IMG's huge media network will be difficult to keep up with, but FDCI is taking huge steps to do the same.

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WLIFW) will be held just a week after, and is stirring up huge media interest.

They have 80 designers in their net, as opposed to LFW's 30 and also have put up two ramps, reducing the time between the shows to 90 minutes.

However, since the LFW dates are close to Tokyo Fashion Week , it is the fashion industry that will be at a loss.

With this ongoing spit-fire battle, the buyers who may be interested in India may prefer to travel to Tokyo.

Besides, it is always said that bitter controversies and fights repulse even deeply interested shoppers.
