Fashionistas waiting to gape at the sumptuous period costumes from the yet-to-be-released American movie 'The Great Gatsby' will not have to wait any longer as an exhibition displaying some of the covetable pieces from the much-anticipated film is going to take place at California’s Century Guild Gallery.

Scheduled to be held from May 8 to June 1, 2013, the exhibition will feature four sumptuous costumes designed by the film’s Oscar-winning set and costume designer Catherine Martin.

The exhibits will include a wedding dress and tuxedo worn by the female protagonist Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan) and her groom (Tom Edgerton), as well as two other silk and chiffon outfits and few original costume sketches by Martin.

Baz Luhrmann’s screen adaptation of the Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel has been garnering a lot of attention from all the elite fashion circles of the world.

After launching a collection inspired from the movie, the American menswear specialist Brooks Brothers is also hosting an exhibition displaying 20 original costumes worn by the characters in the motion film at their London’s Regent Street store.

Due to be released on May 10, 2013 in the US, The Great Gatsby is a story of a Yale graduate and World War I veteran named Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) who is fascinated with the extravagant life of his mysterious millionaire neighbour Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio).
