For the past decade, the age-defying charm of vintage fashion has not only been fascinating fashionistas from all generations but also been playing a delightful source of inspiration for modern day young fashion designers.

This timeless allure of 1980s vintage fashion was once again experienced at an auction, which sold more than 400 ensembles from nearly 80 designers, held at Hotel Drouot, Paris.

Sourced from private collectors and assistants of vintage clothing designers, the event auctioned 200 menswear and 200 womenswear creations from fashion talents like Claude Montana, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Azzedine Alaia.

The event’s most expensive item, which fetched nearly €32,219, was a navy blue and white gingham dress created by the famous Japanese fashion designer Comme des Garcons Rei Kawakubo in 1997.
