The Korean textile manufacturing industry has made a strong showing at Interstoff Asia Spring 2006, with a national pavilion under the heading 'Dynamic Korea'. The pavilion displayed silks from the famed Korean Jinju region in Korea for the very first time.

The fair, which took place from 22 – 24 March 2006 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, was selected for a major promotional push by the Korean Fashion Textile Association because of the high number of international fabric buyers it attracts every season.

Yoon Young-sang, VC of the Korea Fashion Textile Association (KFTA) and organizer of the 'Dynamic Korea' pavilion was convinced of the value of Interstoff Asia Spring to Korean manufacturers wishing to showcase their capabilities and to expand internationally.

"Korea's textile manufacturers are now ready to play a bigger role in the global textile industry; it's time for us to help them with their marketing,” said Yoon.

“We will bring over 30 Korean companies to Hong Kong for the show, including a large group of silk manufacturers from the Jinju region of Korea. These are all members of the Korea Silk Research Institute,” he added further.

Special activities under the heading of 'Dynamic Korea' included fashion shows with garments made of Jinju silk and a match-making programme putting suited buyers and suppliers together. It is clear that the new Interstoff Asia concept, reflecting vertical sourcing methods inthe textile and garment business, has attracted new groups of suppliers to exhibit in the fair.

Visitors to the fair got the option of wide selection of textiles, accessories and garments at Interstoff Asia Spring. Re-shaped to best cater to the needs of the changing textile and garment industry, the show now focuses on the three essential elements for success in the new quota-free era: creation, function and fashion.
