The young designers from the Canadian province of Manitoba will now have an opportunity to showcase their skills before the judges of Mercedes-Benz Start Up, a mentorship program to hunt and support new emerging fashion talents from all over the country.

On June 18, 2013, the Mercedes-Benz Start Up team will come to Winnipeg, the capital city of Manitoba, to savour the fashion creations designed by new up and coming talents.

The finalists chosen from the nationwide competition will not only get the chance to be mentored by a group of well-known industry professionals but also the coveted honour to present their collections at the forthcoming edition of World MasterCard Fashion Week (WMFW) in Toronto in October 2013.

Designer Duy Nguyen, the winner of last year’s Mercedes Benz Start Up competition, who received mentorship from industry experts like Barbara Atkin, Holt Renfrew fashion director and Bernadette Morra, showcased his Fall 2013 collection from his eponymous label DUY, on March 19, 2013 at WMFW.

Mercedes-Benz Start Up is an ongoing initiative that provides a national platform to discover and support emerging Canadian fashion designers who have been in business for less than five years.

The semi-annual fashion event ‘World MasterCard Fashion Week,’ unofficially known as Toronto Fashion Week, is organized by the worldwide leader in fashion event production and management IMG Fashion.
