The up and coming Vietnamese fashion talent Vu Ta Linh was one of the proud winners of the just concluded young Asian designers’ contest Audi Star Creation 2013, which attracted participants from several nations like Singapore, China, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Mongolia, Thailand and Vietnam.

An alumnus of Ha Noi London College of Fashion Studies, Linh showcased a spectacular womenswear collection titled Contour at the event, which was recently held in Singapore as part of Asia’s biggest fashion trade event Asia Fashion Exchange

Drawing inspiration from the lush green rice terraces of Lào Cai, a province located in the north-western mountainous region of Vietnam, the line’s creations were enriched with different stitching varieties, such as quilting, stitching, weaving, embroidery and patchwork.

In addition to Vu Ta Linh, the other two winners of the design competition, which was initiated in 2010 by the Singaporean Textile & Fashion Federation, were the Singapore native Haziq Putra and Sun Yi Zin from China.

In addition to receiving a cash prize of US$ 8,000, the three winners of the contest were also awarded with a one-year working contract with the famous Singaporean clothier FJ Benjamin as well as an opportunity to showcase their designs at the next year’s edition of Asia Fashion Exchange.

The Asia Fashion Exchange aims to position Singapore as the Asian continent’s leading fashion hub.
