A fashionable treat-cum-exhibition for the fans of acclaimed English romantic fiction queen Jane Austen has been going on at the 19th-century country mansion Belsay Hall, Castle & Gardens, Northumberland, UK.

Marking the 200th publication anniversary of the novelist’s iconic novel ‘Pride and Prejudice’, the event is a display of period costumes worn by the characters in the television and film incarnations of the 18th century genius’s literary masterpieces.

Slated to run till August 26, 2013, the exhibits include sumptuous ensembles sported by the likes of Dame Judy Dench, Kate Beckinsale, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The exhibition also showcases the famous white transparent shirt and trousers donned by the handsome and brooding 28-year-old Fitzwilliam Darcy, played by Colin Firth in BBC’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

Known as one of the most widely read writers in English literature, Jane Austen’s other works include ‘Emma’, ‘Sense and Sensibility’ and ‘Mansfield Park’.
