Fresh young graduates from leading fashion institutions across the UK presented their avant-garde collections on the opening day of Graduate Fashion Week (GFW), a non-profit event that serves as a platform to encourage Britain’s emerging design talents.

Designer Isabella Lyginou, from Edinburgh, featured a dazzling array of studded and regal creations on the first day of the five-day-long soiree.

Northumbria's up-and-coming talent Victoria Schofield displayed a riot of colours through her bright and bold printed suits on the same day.

More than 1,000 fashion designers from nearly 40 institutes in the UK and Ireland are showcasing their collections at the ongoing event, which has helped in launching the careers of some of the biggest names, including Stella McCartney, Giles Deacon and Matthew Williamson, in the global fashion industry.

The current edition of GFW, which was founded in 1991, will also stage its maiden international fashion show presented by students from New York, San Francisco, Berlin, Milan, Paris and Lahore.
