Kenya fashion week to be held next month

Kenya’s official fashion week 2013 is scheduled to open on August 24, 2013 at Villa Rosa Kempinski in Nairobi, Kenya.
 
The event, which was previously recognized as ‘Trendz Kenya Fashion Festival’ has now been designated as the official Kenya Fashion Week (KFW).
 
The aim of the event is to establish Kenya as the fashion and urban lifestyle capital of Africa and help designers build relationships, while encouraging excellence in quality.
 
The event would feature well-known designers from Africa and around the world showcasing exquisite collections, and exhibits of lifestyle and luxury products and services.
 
This year’s line-up of designers include Suzaan Heyns and Ruald Rheeder from South Africa; DEV r NIL from India; Hakeem Balogun (Kimono collection), Yvonne Mwosu (Vonne couture) and Tina Ndidi Ugo (Didi creations) from Nigeria; Dave, Kushweet Bharij, Yvonne Odhiambo and Gloria Baraza from Kenya; Estella Ogbonna from USA; Shahida Zia from Pakistan; Chauvin-Buthaud Laurence and Christina Schatzeden from Ivory coast/France; as well as Kapasa Musonda from Zambia.
 
A day prior to KFW, another fashion week termed the Nairobi Fashion Week (NFW) is set to premiere in Nairobi. The purpose of the three-day event is to bring creativity and innovation to fashion and forecast the future of African fashion and bring Kenya into mainstream fashion.
