Brazil's Santa Catarina apparel fair draws 110 exhibitors

The National Fair for Fashion Industry, Fenafashion 2013, aimed to foster and promote Brazilian region of Santa Catarina as a centre of fashion, has attracted 110 exhibitors from various segments of the South Catarinese apparel and fashion industry who presented their innovations at the fair. 
 
Fabiola Taraskevicius, the director general of Fenafashion, said the fair is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to recognize and accommodate various segments of the South Catarinese industry. 
 
The four-day event being held in Criciuma would witness a total of 22 sub-events, including 16 lectures on fashion and apparel, 3 workshops focused on skill development, and 3 fashion shows.
 
Roberto Benedet, president of Syndicate of Attire Industries from Criciuma (Sindivest), said Criciuma in Santa Catarina has a high consumption of raw material for clothing industry and has an annual production of apparel that is greater than the combined production of two other states Parana and Rio grande sol who produce 500 million pieces per year, whereas Santa Catarina produces 1.5 billion pieces a year, according to a press release. 
 
The fair has the institutional support of various bodies like Brazilian Association of Machines and Equipments (Abimaq), Brazilian Association of Textiles Technicians (ABTT), Amrec Fashion Nucleo, Syndicate of Attire Industries from Criciuma (Sindivest), Federation of Industries from Santa Catarina (Fiesc), and Chamber of Shopkeeper’s Association (CDL).
