Nearly 100,000 fashion enthusiasts from different parts of the country will flock to the forthcoming nineteenth edition of Australian sartorial fest Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW 2013).

Slated to take place from August 31 to September 8, 2013, the event will serve as a valuable platform for local designers, brands and retailers to showcase their work and new season designs.

Japan-born womenswear designer Akira will feature his latest Spring/Summer 2013 collection, replete with kimono inspired handmade prints and tailoring, at the event. The line includes curl-neck panelled silk dresses, embroidered organza bridalwear and A-line skirts.

London-born Australian fashion talent Alice McCall drew inspiration from 1950’s Cabana era for her new range titled ‘Her Name Was Lola’. Accentuated with clean lines and relaxed tailoring, the collection features cinched waist full skirts, playsuits with sweetheart necklines and lingerie.

The high-end woman’s ready-to-wear luxury brand Christina Exie will present a geometrically-patterned, heavy on graphics collection at the nine-day-long event. The ensembles include high-neck, floor-length tunic dresses and laser-cut leather garments.
