Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week marks a colourful start with Niki Mahajan's autumn/winter collection.
With a blend of Indian culture and Egyptian royalty, the theme of the show is roaming around Pushkar, the Mela and Cleopatra, gorgeous mistress of Julius Caesar.
Style and elegance of Niki combined to create cuts of skirts and quilted jackets, which reflected Rajasthani flavor on ramp.
Salam Namaste fame Australian actress Tanya Zeta played Cleopatra and walked on the ramp in Pria Kataria Puri's outfit.
Pria's collection of turqoise, gold, pearly porcelain and emerald dresses evidently roused the spirit of Egyptian and Turkish culture to lure European and Middle East buyers.
Miss India Universe Neha Kapur hit the ramp first garbing herself in creations by Namrata Joshipura and Malini Ramani.
Models like Nethra Ranganathan, Fleur Xaviers, Diandra Soares and Sonalika also flaunted in Joshipura's collection, Nervous Splendor with a range of natural colours and shades of frosty gray, ivory and wine with the theme of uncertainty and excitement.
The collection was specially meant for highbrowed women of India, said Joshipura.
Joshipura's collections had a pinch of 'contemporariness' with Empire jackets, straight dresses and full skirts, while her unusual fabric combinations, like tweed with silk, made the exhibition 'introspective and gregarious'.
