Alexander Wang, the creative director of Balenciaga, once again staged a fantastic catwalk show on the third day of ongoing bi-annual ready-to-wear showcase Paris Fashion Week (PFW).

The 29-year-old New Yorker’s presentation, which was one of the most hotly-anticipated shows of the event, displayed a sportswear-inspired line based in a dominating palette of blue and white.

Replete with high hemlines and soft floral prints, the ensembles included short A-line skirts, stiff raffia running shorts, round-shouldered jackets, strapless minis and midriff baring crop tops.

Guillaume Henry, the 35-year-old designer behind the French brand Carven, featured a versatile collection fit for women of all ages. The line showcased knee-length pencil skirts, waist-accentuating dresses, oversized bomber jackets, 1960s’ style collarless silk coats and floral cotton two-piece suits.

French couture house Balmain’s designer Olivier Rousteing modified 1980’s trends to suit the contemporary fashion palate. The line included oversized hounds-tooth bombers, quilted denim jackets, sexy vintage pencil skirts and overall dresses teamed with white shirts.

Internationally-renowned designer of Indian origin Manish Malhotra featured a very colourful Spring/Summer 2014 collection at PFW. Based on hues of neon pink, orange, yellow and green, the flouncy and tailored short ensembles were embroidered with precious stones.
