India's Rajasthan to host Vastra textile fair from Oct 3

The Indian’s state of Rajasthan is all geared up to host the second edition of its international textile and apparel fair, ‘Vastra 2013’, which is scheduled to be held in the capital city of Jaipur, from October 3 to 6 this year.
 
The four-day fair is co-organized by Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Ltd (RIICO) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
 
At a press conference, Naveen Mahajan, managing director of RIICO said, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has provided financial support of Rs. 50 million for organizing the fair under the Market Access Initiative Scheme.
 
This year, the fair is expected to attract 202 exhibitors and 421 buyers from 66 countries, as well as 43 Indian buying houses have also confirmed participation, he added.
 
Mr. Mahajan said in addition to traditional export markets like the US and West Europe, new market buyers from Latin America, Africa, China, Australia and East Europe have also shown keen interest to participate in the fair.
 
The Vastra 2013 aims at showcasing the best and latest in textiles from technology to products. The fair is designed to provide opportunities for business as well as a platform for launching new products, exploring avenues for new business relations, Joint Venture's, strategic alliances and partnerships with worldwide textile firms which are looking for setting up businesses in India.
 
In 2012, the Vastra textile fair generated business worth US$ 61.90 million. The fair attracted participation of 178 exhibitors and 361 international buyers, as well as 36 Indian buying houses.
