Japanese fashion talents continued to weave magic with their delightful creations for the next Spring/Summer season on the third day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo.

Hiroyuki Horihata and Makiko Sekiguchi, the extremely talented designer duo behind the Matohu brand, featured a laidback yet refined collection, including slim trousers, lightweight sweater coats, jersey skirts and shift dresses, based on a much modernized version of traditional Oriental silhouettes.

Infused with their inimitable expertise in layered garments, the ensembles showcased animal motifs and embroidered fish patterns in a mixed palette of pastel, candy and sombre hues that included colours like lime-green, bubblegum pink, lemon yellow, gray, navy, charcoal and teal.

Flowers, plants and foliage collectively played muse behind designer Hiroshi Tanida’s runway presentation. The design expert’s new Stof collection was heavily inspired from botanical specimens. Decorated with motifs of palm trees and lush green saplings, the line featured slim-fitting trousers, flowing tunics, sporty parkas and lab coat-style jackets.

Fashion designer Ahnsoon Han opted for an ultra-feminine look for the next season. With an extensive use of embroidery, woven fabrics and lace, the textured pieces were based in sherbet like shades of mint green, lavender, peach and pink. Enhanced with bold checks and colour blocking patterns, the collection included sharply tailored pantsuits, shifts, bouclé coats and frothy voluminous dresses.
