Cameroonian designer Kibonen Nfi opened the second day of ongoing Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa (MBFWA) with the latest catwalk collection of her Kibonen NY (KNY) line.

Dubbed as Unwind, the range was a modernised version of heritage-embodied Toghu designs. A delightful amalgamation of style and comfort, the colourful, minimalistic casualwear pieces were made from soft, smooth and sensuous fabrics.

Sharing the stage with Kibonen was the Dubai-based designer Shweta Wahi, who presented an exquisite line inspired from various cultures of different Asian countries including Bali, Philippines, India and Bangladesh.

The Indian-born designer, who is also one of the youngest participants of the MBFWA, showcased a collection featuring simple fuss-free silhouettes. The edgy culturally rich youthful line was replete with batik prints, embroidery and hand-crafted bead detailing.

Made from crepe, chiffon and neoprene fabrics, the vibrantly hued and printed pieces reflected sophisticated looks and clean cuts.

Taking place in the city of Tshwane, South Africa, the second day of the fashion soiree also witnessed style-studded runway shows from names like Marianne Fassler, Mille Collins and Tanzanian-born New York Fashion Week designer Sheria Ngowi.
