Balcony features India-inspired line at Fashion Rio Day-2

A trip to India played as inspiration behind brand Balcony’s latest winter-2014 collection, presented on the second day of ongoing Brazilian soiree Fashion Rio.

Designed under the guidance of the label’s creative director Beti Speiski, the lightweight fabric ensembles were adorned with intricate silver, ochre, red and gold coloured delicate flower and leaf embroidery, made from guitar string like thick metal wires in India. Replete with interesting overlays and silhouettes, the sportswear-influenced line featured sweatshirts, jackets, belted coats, pencil and wider skirts, and stone studded jeans.

Brazilian fashion label Oh, Boy drew inspiration from various sources, such as the 1990s’ post-punk era, Russian ballet and rehearsing ballet dancers, for its new catwalk presentation. Made using materials like denim, cotton, silk and organza, the collection is based on a soothing palette of pink, light blue, white, skin, deep yellow, caramel and wine. Created by the brand’s designer Simone Nunes, the pieces included jeans, rolled-up sweatpants, calf length dresses, jackets, knitwears and sweatshirts.

Inspired from Brazil’s lively cities, colourful flora and football mania, the Coca-Cola Jeans showcased a black and white based range, replete with ensembles for both men and women. Decorated with metallic and geometric patterns, the collection displayed short skirts, wide sleeved mini dresses, casual jackets and roomy shorts.

The second day of Fashion Rio also saw a mysterious hunter-inspired clothing collection from Iodice label.
