The 99th China Export Commodities Fair is scheduled to open tomorrow in Guangzhou.

Footwear trade will probably suffer at the fair due to imposition of anti-dumping duties on Chinese shoes by the European Union, the organizer said yesterday.

Many European buyers will take care while placing their orders due to imposition of anti-dumping duties, said Xu Bing spokesman of organizing committee of the fair.

The 98th fair last October, generated deals worth $850 million with almost 946 Chinese footwear makers attending the fair, he informed a press conference in Guangzhou.

EU businesses clinched the largest number of trade deals at the previous fair.

The Chinese Export Commodities Fair is a biannual event. It was launched in 1957 and is considered the country's prime foreign trade fair.

European Commission had announced in late March of imposing anti-dumping duties on leather shoes from China and Vietnam. Three countries voted in favor of the tariffs, while 10 countries voted against with 11 abstentions.
