Montreal Fashion Week (MFW), one of Canada’s premiere style showcases of home-grown talents, has pulled the plug on its forthcoming February, 2014 edition.

The event organizer Groupe Sensation Mode has decided to put a temporary hold on MFW’s winter edition so as to concentrate on the glamorous soiree’s merger with the city’s annual summer Fashion and Design Festival.

The Montreal-based company, which also organizes the summer festival, had revealed its plans of combining the two events during the semi-annual fashion week’s September, 2013 calendar.

The newly merged Fashion and Design Festival and Montreal Fashion Week event is slated to take place from August 20 to 23, 2014.

Held bi-annually, Montreal Fashion Week, which celebrated its 25th edition in September, serves as a platform for Quebec designers to showcase their collections in the presence of buyers, media and public.

Hosted every year in August, Montreal’s Fashion and Design Festival includes catwalk shows, live art installations and entertainment programmes. The last edition saw the celebrated French designer and artist Jean-Charles de Castelbajac as the honorary chairperson.
