Around 300 individuals representing varied sections as well as associations of textile and apparel sectors in Pakistan participated in the 1st edition of the International Textile and Clothing Conference (ITC) held recently in Lahore.

Held under the theme ‘Pakistan’s Industry—Integrated and Collaborating for Today and Tomorrow’, textile and apparel sector representatives evaluated in detail the textile industry’s strength as well as means to resolve the current challenges faced by the industry, reports APP.

Organized by the Punjab state government and Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), the conference laid a special emphasis on partnerships and integration that maximize existing potential and foster collaborations, which would lead to a brighter future of the country’s textile and clothing industry.

Eight sessions were held during the conference, under which panel discussions were conducted on various topics such as Government initiatives, innovations, labors and skills development, productivity enhancement, supply chain, energy, financing and trade associations.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to various stakeholders, with a platform to communicate and build partnerships with global movers in the textile and clothing trade.

The ITC 2013 conference also saw participation from prominent local and foreign officials including Punjab Chief Minister’s Economic Affairs Advisor Ejaz Nabi, Federal Secretary (Textile Division) Rukhsana Shah and Global Apparel Brands president Per Gasseholm.
