Belgian designer Maison Martin Margiela opened the fourth day of ongoing Paris Haute Couture Week with his vintage fabrics and famous European artwork-inspired collection.

Using 1950s textiles designed by the late American interior designer Frank Lloyd Wright, the 56-year-old created long slim bustier dresses. The designer also featured coats made from the tapestries of French Post-Impressionist artist Paul Gauguin as well as used motifs inspired from the paintings of French Fauvist painter Raoul Dufy in wide-legged pantsuits.

Once again, the Hollywood A-listers’ favourite Beirut-born couturier Ellie Saab wove magic with his red-carpet worthy pretty dresses. Adorned with sparkly embellishments and delicate floral appliqués, the line included flowing silk chiffon made Grecian gowns, structural skirts, sheer embroidered dresses and a silk flower and beads decorated sweeping tulle wedding gown.

American burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese walked as showstopper at the French designer Jean Paul Gaultier’s showgirl-inspired catwalk. The 41-year-old diva walked down the runway in a corseted strapless butterfly dress paired with sheer stockings. The designer’s other Spring/Summer 2014 creations were a black satin cocktail suit with winged lapels, a crystal-studded denim vest, an off-the-shoulder ruffled sailor sweater and a frothy long red mesh fishtail skirt and silk blouse ensemble.

Lavish 19th-century Grand opera played as the source of inspiration for Italian fashion brand Valentino’s latest presentation. Designed by the label’s joint creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, the 55-piece line featured a long, full tulle skirt embroidered with theatrical music scores, a navy cashmere cape paired with a silk crepe sheathdress and a silver-gray guipure lace embroidered bronze tulle gown with pleats.
