Local Indonesian fashion will be the central theme of the forthcoming edition of Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) which is set to organize a range of activities to promote locally made clothing and other fashion accessories.

Ahead of the event, which is slated to take place from February 20 to 23, 2014, the organizers are going to host the Jakarta (Sunday) Dress Up, a part of IFW’s ongoing Local Movement program which is aimed to encourage Indonesians to showcase their love for traditional fashion sensibilities.

Co-organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, the dress up event, which will be held on February 16, 2014, will see participants, marching in Jakarta, wearing traditional ensembles like batik, tentun and gloves.

In addition to the Jakarta march, the opening day of IFW will also conduct a special event themed Recovery, which would see participants, from 12 design schools, showcasing creations inspired from Solo Indonesia, Banjarmasin, Jakarta and Raja Ampat.

Other than the regular catwalk presentations, the four-day-long soiree will also host conferences on topics based on promoting the local fashion industry.

Local Movement program helps in supporting original Indonesian products through fostering a love for local fashion. The program not only encourages the production of local products but also supports SMEs, designers, entrepreneurs and related associations.
