The recently concluded Philippine Fashion Week regained its footing on Day 2 after a shaky start earlier, presenting clothes from a smorgasbord of designers termed as, New Generation.

New Generation stalwarts Jun Escario, Tippi Ocampo, Garimon Roferos, Mich Dulce, Dexter Alazas, Aries Lagbat and M. Barretto came up with surprising pieces inspired by elements as glorious sunsets, damp clothes, bold headlines, Boracay basics, window dressing and men in Prozac.

Escario came out as the evening's stunning winners with a Red Carpet collection of billowy empire dresses of Vietnamese silk and printed silk chiffon in shades of orange, teal and taupe.

The designer claimed to have invented a new technique that fused relaxed empire silhouette (in front) with the more form-fitting serpentine shape (on the back).

Its look was decidedly expensive and glamorous, said Escario.
M. Barretto as one of F&H's in-house designers produced handsome men's jackets and separates in soothing pastels and warm earth colors and added a few floral shirts in neutral shades.

Mich Dulce the designer came up with smart and edgy cotton and wool separates in plain, pinstriped and printed materials.
Dulce's trademark draping and tucking were very much evident and use of flaps and extensions like huge swags of fabrics though her clothes managed to look polished yet edgy.

Regine Dulay's collection looked somewhat similar to Dulce's.
Aries Lagbat created mini dresses with bubble skirts or capelets that could be turned into bags.

Roferos fashioned ruched and skimpy beachwear in earthy shades. But the real attractions were his accessories, including a carry-on luggage on wheels, again made of dried and woven water lilies.

Alazas showed his expertise in draping using several chiffon and jersey numbers to contrast neutral colors. In keeping perhaps with the sultry season, the collection was decidedly light and showed ample skin.
