Besancon-born French designer Christophe Lemaire opened the second day of Paris Fashion Week (PFW) with a sumptuous collection of cosy snug winterwear.

Based on a palette of soft beige, gray, white, cream and black, the colour block Autumn/Winter 2014 range showcased layered wearable knitwear, trench coats, belted short jackets, and an exceptionally detailed printed skirt and top set.

Croatian-born designer Damir Doma chose classic tailoring cuts and stitches in his latest runway range. Replete with jacquard, mohair, plaid and velvet, the collection showcased loose-fit day dresses, double-breasted coats, fray-hemmed keyhole sweaters, skirts and luxe eveningwear in burgundy, denim-blue, petrol blue and ombré shades.

Under the guidance of its artistic director Marcel Marongiu, the French fashion label Guy Laroche chose to design its PFW catwalk collection in muddy hues of cinnamon, teal, deep green and purple. The line displayed dishevelled sheep fur coats, long accordion-pleat skirts, slim-fit cropped trousers, raw-seamed felted wool tops, sweeping sack dresses, waist hugging dress coats and embroidered black sequin tulle sheaths.

Belgian designer Dries Van Noten brought a deluge of metallic colours in his current catwalk collection, which included an array of hand-painted coats and dresses peppered with splashes of fuchsia, yellow and hot orange overlays, stripes and other patterns.

The French couture house Vionnet designer Goga Ashkenazi used valenki felt, an unusual wool felt material used in making Russian boots, for her fluid fall collection. Based heavily on a strong lime green shade, the pieces included dresses, coats, backless bustier tops, knits and color-blocked jersey eveningwear with lightweight suede detailing.
