Iconic French fashion house Chanel transformed the Grand Palais into a buzzing supermarket for its latest Autumn/Winter 2014 catwalk show, staged on the penultimate day of ongoing Paris Fashion Week.

Replete with a heavy dose of classic sportswear moulded into shiny accents, the range included glossy sweat-pants, striped coats, silver leggings, short jackets, fit and flare skirts, loose-fitting suits, trousers puffed at the ankles, pink tracksuits, sexy black dresses and shocking metallic sneakers.

Internationally-renowned Italian fashion label Valentino’s designer duo Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli took inspiration from the works of three unconventional Italian female artists from the late 1960s and early 1970s era, such as Giosetta Fioroni, Carol Rama and Carla Accardi, for their latest creations.

Adorned with kaleidoscopic prints, embellishments and varied textures, the line featured pink and red dotted skirts, oversized black coat, flared trenches, hooded ponchos with multi-coloured circular patterns and lightweight floral lace dresses in hues of fuchsia and olive green with metallic shimmers.

Famous English label Alexander McQueen capped off the eighth day with a very theatrical show punched with hints of a dark brooding fantasy land. Designed by the brand’s current creative head Sarah Burton, the ensembles included big-sleeved organza milkmaid dresses with open necklines, green and purple velvet jacquard jackets with matching pants, delicate embroidered gowns, and fluffy furry collared mannish suits teamed with worker-style heavy boots.
