The just concluded Turkish fashion extravaganza Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Istanbul showcased a range of Fall/Winter 2014-2015 collections from a talented mix of young and seasoned designers.

Designer Ayhan Yetgin featured an innovative 15-piece line titled Layers of Identity at the soiree. Based in shades of black, white and grey, the pieces were made using wool and poplin materials. Replete with exaggerated collars and cuffs, the collection included jackets, shirts, cape-style tuxedos and trousers.

The men’s and women’s wear designer Hakan Akkaya featured a very sombre monochromatic toned line. Decorated with shimmering sequins and glitzy metallics, the range featured one-shouldered cocktail dresses, furry sweaters, floor-grazing capes, fit and flared long skirts and full-sleeve bodices.

Womenswear designer Gülçin Çengel drew inspiration from the roots of a Banyan tree for her new Totem range. Based in a palette of black, white, burgundy and navy blue colours, the line highlighted exquisite three-dimensional geometrical patterns and detailing on an array of romantic dresses.
