Despite the political unrest in the country, the 34th edition of Ukrainian Fashion Week was consummated with all its high octane glam shows and dazzling glitterati presence in the capital city of Kiev.

More than 19 runway presentations, featuring an array of Fall-2014 collections, were showcased by a talented mix of some 40 young and seasoned local designers at the six-day-long sartorial fest.

Natalya Kamenska and Olesya Kononova, the designer duo behind the fashion label Kamenskakononova, now rebranded as Lake, featured a very sombre line, comprised of pieces with the word ‘duty’ spelt boldly on them, dedicated to the ongoing protests.

Internationally acclaimed Ukrainian designer Liliya Poustovit sent a very strong patriotic message down the runway through her collection based on the pale yellow and blue colours of the Ukrainian flag.

The event’s most standout pieces were the statement sweatshirts, inscribed with slogans like Pray for Ukraine, Dreamy Ukraine and Stop the Regime, designed by the likes of Elena Burbas, Tina Martinet and Olga Navrotska.
