Alpaca fibre testing workshop provides insight to breeders

Alpaca breeders from south coast of New South Wales and surrounding areas enthusiastically supported the Alpaca Fibre Workshop held at Oak Grove Alpacas in Candelo.
This workshop was conducted by Paul Valley of Australian Alpaca Fibre Testing based at Crookwell.
At the workshop, various topics were discussed like, understanding fibre measurement terminology, how nutrition affects fibre diameter, heritable traits and what wool buyers want from growers of alpaca fibre to meet their clients demands.
Everyone was delighted to watch the OFDA 2000 fleece testing machine at work and each participant got an opportunity to view test of fleece sample.
