The just wrapped up edition of Kampala Fashion Intro, held in the Ugandan capital city of Kampala, showcased exquisite fashion creations from some of the talented creative names of the East African countries.

The event featured glitzy catwalk collections by Rwandan designers like Cynthia Rupari, Patrick Muhire and Kelvin Kagirimpundu, alongside Burundi’s Cynthia Munwangari and Krystal Bell as well as Gloria Wavamunno, Renzioni, Balungi, Halisi and Isabella Asiimwe from Uganda.

In addition to the runway shows highlighting avant-garde lines of casual wear, evening gowns, wedding fashion and cocktail dresses, the two-day-long soiree also hosted discussions aimed at promoting and supporting the creative talents of the entire Eastern African region.

The fashion do was jointly hosted by the Great Lakes Arts Association, an organization run by the famous fashion industry bigwigs of Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania, as well as LDJ productions—the organizers of the New York Fashion week and Kigali Fashion Week.

Kampala Fashion Intro was hosted as a precursor to the forthcoming regional fashion weeks slated to take place in Burundi sometime in August, 2014, in Rwanda around early November, 2014, followed by Uganda’s Kampala Fashion Week in November, 2014.
