Couromoda: Shoe fairs formation for trade promotion

Directors of the world's main footwear fairs met in Milan/Italy during the Micam International Footwear Fair (March, 16-19), to outline details that will create the World Shoe Fair Association (WSFA).
Presidents of the fairs Couromoda/Brazil, Micam/Italy, WSA/United States, Midec/France, Modacalzado/Spain and GDS/Germany agreed on the details for the official launching of the entity, on August 3rd, in Las Vegas, during the WSA Shoe Show.
According to Francisco Dos Santos, President of Couromoda and one of the idealizers of the project, it was also decided that five other leading fairs will be invited to participate as founders of the World Shoe Fair Association: the most important events in Russia, China, Turkey, Mexico and India. Together, these 11 fairs represent over 9 thousand exhibitors. They will exchange experiences and format a world campaign for the valorization of the promotional trade activities.

Still according to Dos Santos, as of 2007, another 4 vice-leading fairs in their countries will also be able to participate in the entity. He also informed that the first joint campaign of the World Shoe Fair Association should be launched after Las Vegas show as a far reaching project, promoting world wide footwear industry and trade.
COUROMODA –is an International Shoes, Sportsgoods and Leathergoods Fair ranks third worldwide and it is Latin America specialized leading trade fair. It is the most important business and launchings event of the footwear and leathergoods industry; and the most patronized and representative fair of the sector.
