The University of Central Lancashire student, Jayne Acton, drew inspiration from the modern day Amish women for her latest runway presentation. Infused with classical feminine aesthetics, the floral print heavy range included high collared long dresses, jumpsuits, dungarees and tiered skirts paired with flat trilby hats.

Zahra Yasmine Azam, from the University for the Creative Arts, Epsom, showcased a very vibrantly printed collection, replete with dresses, long jumpers and coats in bright hues of orange, yellow, lime green and black.

Inspired from Buddhism and Cornish landscapes, the 21-year-old student from Colchester School of Art, Chloe Woodgate, created several knitwear-based pieces decorated with African tribal patterns, crochet and macramé details.

Another student from the University for the Creative Arts, Adele McNair, featured a line of strong silhouettes and laser-cut geometric shape based structured dresses, inspired from contemporary art and India, whereas London’s Kingston University designer Lauren Lake displayed an outerwear heavy line, which included pieces like pink shearling jackets, inspired from the Antarctic expeditions of the UK’s Royal Navy officer Robert Falcon Scott.

In addition to the catwalk collections from British design students, the four-day soiree also hosted the International Catwalk Competition, which presented graduate collections from colleges in 14 countries, including Japan, America, Russia, Sri Lanka, France and Italy.

Also, a series of talks and practical demonstrations on pattern-cutting, marketing and finance-based issues of fledgling, start-up designer labels were conducted on the sidelines of the event.
