The fifth instalment of EcoChic Design Award, an international competition that focuses on reducing textile wastes, will see waste-reducing creations from young emerging brands belonging to Asian and European countries.

Designers from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, UK, France, Germany, Sweden and Denmark will create contemporary, wearable womenswear pieces for the Chinese luxury brand, Shanghai Tang.

Themed as Modern China Chic, the design entries will be produced with three minimal waste design techniques such as zero-waste, up-cycling and reconstruction.

The ensembles will be showcased during the forthcoming season of Hong Kong Fashion Week 2015.

First started in 2011 in Hong Kong by fashion NGO Redress, the EcoChic Design Award is a sustainable fashion design competition inspiring emerging fashion designers and students to create mainstream clothing with minimal textile waste.
