Jewish fashion designers at AFW get sound media bytes

Camilla Freeman, sister of Marc, said last week's show, their seventh, had lastly enabled the still-burgeoning label to 'come into its own.'

"Fashion is fairly unglamorous and at the end of the day, you're manufacturing clothing," she said.

Further, Jewish designers who displayed their spring/summer 2006/07 varieties included University of Technology Sydney graduate Becky Cooper, whose label bec&bridge offered a colourful compilation motivated by the Italian Riviera glamour of the 1950s.

Natalie Cohen, of Cohen et Sabine, best sums up the fashion week experience for the designer saying in a tired voice after her second triumphant fashion-week outing, "It's just a lot of work."

"It's really thrilling because to see it all there on the catwalk, being worn by models is a real treat. It makes it all feel really worth it," explained Cohen.
