The Japanese womenswear brand Hanae Mori kicked off the Mercedes-Benz fashion Week in Tokyo with a new Spring/Summer 2015 collection designed by its newly appointed New York-bred designer Yu Amatsu.

A balanced mix of both sporty and tailored ensembles, the neutral toned line featured an array of Grecian-style gowns adorned with broken butterfly wing prints.

Tamae Hirokawa, the designer behind Somarta label, opted to stage an installation that showcased both mannequins and fashion models to unveil her 17-piece range. Infused with a subtle hint of traditional Japanese sensibilities, the heavily textured collection was replete with tulle, feathers, jacquards and embroidery.

Based on a palette of lavender, sky blue, sea green, vibrant orange and yellow hues, the collection’s standouts were softly draped wrap dresses with multi-layered kimono-esque necklines, slit detailed skirts with pleated inserts, skin-tight catsuits, elaborate bodices and swirl printed jersey numbers.

The men’s and women’s clothing company Dresscamp, owned by designer Toshikazu Iwaya, featured a print heavy line. Accented with motifs of wild goblins, lipstick marks, leopard skin and eye catching geometric patterns, the line featured panama hat-meets-baseball cap style headgear for males and babushka-style headscarves for females.
