One hundred women weavers will gather to work together, discuss and recommit to the challenge of sustaining their traditional textile culture and the arts of natural-dyeing and hand spinning on 12 July 2006, 10 am — 9 pm.
They will come from Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Java, Bali, Flores, Lembata, Sumba and Timor to the village of Baun in Amarasi, one hour from Kupang in Timor.
These weavers will exhibit and sell their best textiles, offering you the chance to meet them to discuss their work as weavers and community builders.
Join them in a series of parallel discussion groups on culture, ethnobotany, fair trade, ethnic music and cultural documentation.
Support the continuation of the archipelago's diverse textile traditions by participating in this unique event. Inspire these traditional communities to maintain their culture at its highest level.
