Jennifer Skaar, a member of the Cotton Park Beach Committee, during a meeting of the Coleraine City Council on May 8, told that the swimming and recreation beach will open from 17 June 2006.
Skaar reported that 10 students from Greenway High School will assist in preparing the beach for the season. Schwartz Excavating provided sand for the mission.
The beach committee will oversee a shoreline renovation project this June and also has developed a standard protocol for the testing of E. Coli content.
The test will be performed each week according to Minnesota Department of Health Standards, with outcome to be displayed at the beach.
Finally, Skaar appreciatively accepted a local inhabitant's contribution of a boat.
The council agreed a wage of $7.25 an hour for these positions and also authorized Skaar to advertise for a fourth lifeguard wishing that the three of previous year's four lifeguards come back. The beach will close for the season 19 August.
