The philosophical quotes on disconnection by Italian continental philosopher Giorgio Agamben and doctrines of French literary theorist Roland Barthes played as sources of inspiration behind Gucci’s latest runway presentation.

Staged at the ongoing Milan Fashion Week, the Autumn/Winter 2015 collection titled ‘The Contemporary is the Untimely’ was the debut womenswear catwalk presentation from the luxury Italian brand’s recently appointed creative director of Roman origin, Alessandro Michele.

Enhanced with tapestry flower designs and Georgian-inspired embroidered patterns of birds, the range included pleated dresses, ruffled lace and sheer tops, long skirts and some menswear-influenced pieces alongside fur-trimmed loafers, slippers and criss-cross ballerinas with pompoms.

The collection aims to celebrate untimely details, quintessential interferences and discrepancies which reclaim their discordance with the present in order to better comprehend the present itself. (PB)
