For promoting the local artists' world-class skill and innovation with indigenous materials, Rustan's has joined hands with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Filipino Heritage Festival, Inc. and the Cultural Center of the Philippines to celebrate the traditional Philippine textile kept on exhibition up to May 31, 2006 in Makati.
Exhibition displays several design and intricate prints of foliage, animal and human figures, nature, gods, and spirits that are reminiscent of our indigenous brother's unique heritage, beliefs and tradition and is titled as 'Warm: Traditional Textile Motifs of the Philippines.'
The show merely does not reveal Filipino heritage and culture but also presents the functional utility of traditional textiles especially for fashionable Manileños.
The industry must help and play a vital role to promote Filipino fabric and make it more acceptable among public.
Over a period of time the masses will have an affinity towards it and with the staunch support of upper class the fabric will thrive.
The exhibition also showcases the fine array of Miagaoan weaves whose depth and finesse possess over 150 years of history.
