Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB) called an emergency meeting to discuss the turmoil readymade garment industry (RMG) sector is currently facing.
Chaired by Chairman and MD of the National Bank Limited (NBL), M Aminuzzaman, the meet was attended by representatives from several leading private, nationalized, and foreign commercial banks.
Bankers unitedly gave a call to the Government to unite and work towards the resolving these issues.
After considering the various problems that plagued the RMG industry, bankers committed to back the sector financially.
Nevertheless, statistics reveal that disbursement of total loans and advances to the RMG sector in September 2005 reached Tk 35.49 billion, representing a drop of Tk 46.8 million from that in the month of June at Tk 35.53.
