The Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC) declared plans for its upcoming 10-day handicraft summer course for high school students to promote the programme of spotting young Bahamian entrepreneurs.

The programme commences from July 11, for children aged eight and above, featuring handicraft training in knitting, crocheting, beading and plastic canvassing each targeted for young children to develop new skills.

Training will be held at the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institution (BTVI) while BAIC's a highly qualified and experienced shell craft expert Veronica Ellis will instruct summer course.

Ellis will direct the students in making blankets, clothing, hats and beaded jewelry.

The course is the best way to capture and develop creative individualism and generate wealth of knowledge among the youth.

Lessons will inspire their creative juices to flow freely, while creative individuals will be tracked early, and among them will rise straw vendors of tomorrow who would keep the Bahamian heritage alive.

Classes are scheduled to begin from July 11 to 20 between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM with a registration fee of US $20.
