ITE mapping future fashion

IRMCo, a local company is involved in research and training projects funded by several EU countries, since last ten years.

The company has offered about 50 project proposals and has been a coordinator in 11 EU projects.

IRMCo's success enables them to join several European research consortia. They are now enduring a follow-up project of Intelligent Textile Environment (ITE) called "Fashion to Future" which aims to guide textile and clothing SMEs towards funding opportunities in the next EU Framework Programme FP7."

Recently, IRMCo organized a two-year EU-funded project related to the textile and clothing industry: "ITE-Towards a European-wide intelligent textile environment: building, linking and bonding".

The (ITE) syndicate consisting of 22 partners representing 16 countries in Europe. Its main goal is to promote and activate a process of innovation within the textile and clothing sector and to encourage the participation of SMEs in EU-sponsored research projects.

Several local companies have shown their inclination to join in this initiative. The main activities of ITE focus on the theme of innovation. Adopting innovative practices can be a powerful strategy for SMEs as it provides them with the competitive advantage necessary to survive in today's market.

Seminar presented instances of good practices revealed by companies in Europe adopting innovation and results of the benchmarking exercise, which assessed the manufacturing performance of local companies compared with other European companies.
