A fashion show organised by La Paz Municipal Council saw a group of Bolivia's indigenous women catwalking in their traditional dresses.
“cholitas” as these women are known, displayed their traditional long-skirted attire and hats in a show aimed at identifying the women who have played important roles in the country's history.
This was an opportunity for them to show that the catwalk is not just about western outfits. They also felt proud of the fact that they have represented the women on stage who have played an important role in the country's freedom struggle.
The cost of the dresses varies as per the use of fabric and generally it is stationed between bolivianos280 and 700.
The price shoots up after adding jewellery to it, which is generally of gold with the complete set having pin, earrings costing about US $5,000 in some dresses.
