Exhibition held in New York about British fashion has been severely criticized for using a Burberry coat trimmed with fox fur by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), an animal rights group.

The group has petitioned the Metropolitan Museum of Art asking for the removal of gabardine trench coat from the Anglomania show.

PETA's President Ingrid Newkirk reproved the display of fur garments in the exhibition as it sends the signal that torturing and killing an animal for fashion is justified.

Andrew Bolton, a curator at the museum replied that the coat in question had been partly prepared to "reveal the moral discourse surrounding blood sports and fur fashions".

He also emphasized that these fashion display actually showed the gruesome reality of fox-hunting and said that exhibition scheduled to end on September, 04 will continue to display the said coat.

Anglomania show sponsored by Burberry started in May to big acclaim with the launch party attended by actress Siena Miller and model Kate Moss.
