Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association informed that the third edition of the Bom Retiro Fashion Business was held August 7-10 with the participation of 40 companies from the region.
This time the catwalk was set up on the traditional Ribeiro de Lima Street, where four daily fashion shows were presented showing the bets by Bom Retiro manufacturers for the summer of 2006/2007. ABIT sponsored the event, which is promoted by the Bom Retiro CDL – Storeowner Chamber.
Buyers from several regions around Brazil and from Mercosur countries visited the event, which received and investment of R$400 thousand. According to the organization, about 150 thousand people passed through the Bom Retiro Fashion Business per day.
“The expectation is to see an increase of up to 40 percent in wholesale sales during the event,” believes CDL events and marketing director, Nivaldo Junior.
Bom Retiro is well-known in Brazil for its street-side stores. The district currently has 1200 storeowners, 1000 of which are manufacturers.
Each company produces about 20 thousand pieces per month, and most of the sales are wholesale, which makes the region one of the main suppliers of pieces to small and mid-sized boutiques throughout the country. Every day, nearly 70 thousand people circulate over the district's streets.
