Gaurav Gupta presents his Spring/Summer 2007 line at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week - an FDCI event. He can drape twist; manipulate fabrics like no one can and the result is amazing. He does not even leave the traditional six-yard wonder the sari without his creative touches.

That is what Gaurav Gupta is capable of and his Spring/Summer 2007 line for his label atpuG varuaG was a breath of fresh air in the early morning.

If the Greeks invented drapes, then Gaurav has managed to perfect them whether it is in jersey, stretch satin, organza, linen, georgette or jacquard the result is innovative.
Inspired by Art Nouveau, ancient Greek draping and conceptual pattern cutting the collection had faint influences of the 19th century.

Starting with twin white draped jersey digitally printed dresses the collection was a visual treat as textural embroidery like chikankari and prints were turned into dresses, tops and the most amazing beige jersey gathered Thai trouser with satin details, a dhoti skirt in pearl Devore Zuaves with textural and metal embroidery, a sari with a pallav so different it resembled a gown or a cape.

The colour story matched the mood of the garments with grey, white, sage, peach a touch of gold oyster and creame. Detailing added to the finish of the garments as trims, seam details, pleats gave the final touch to the collection. If Gaurav Gupta's debut last season was exciting, his second appearance on the WIFW has established his label as the one to watch out for on the ramp.
