Stark simple lines either vertical or horizontal is how Varun Bahl sees fashion for Spring Summer 2007. At Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, he adds detailing to complete the picture and the result is a simple basic collection that is easy on the eye and the body.
Soft jerseys and silks along with a sprinkling of lace in colours that match the line with muted tones of dull green old rose and white, the layered ensembles had a serenity all of their own.
Opening with a white summer dress with inserted side seam fins and pockets, Varun moved on to white dresses with tonal embroidery on the hem, some pretty blousoned blouses with slim skirts and then on to an orange blouson flowing knee length jacket.
The scene stealers were the chattain skirt in dull green, the horizontal pleated slim skirt, the triple layered ensemble soft skirt blouse, lacy jacket and balloon shaped skirts. The knee length tonal embroidered pleated long coat, pleated peplum tops with a gold skirt and the gold chattai shirt dress were the icing on the formal wear line.
Varun's men's wear line complemented his women's wear in colour and detailing as blouson voile printed shirts, pleated crobbed tops with waist tie-up and structured jackets gave men's wear a more contemporary look.
A National Institute of Fashion Technology (New Delhi, India) graduate, Varon Bahl launched his label in 2001.
