Textile exhibition gets under way in Jakarta

Pameran Kain Nusantara dan Asesories 2006 (Nusantara Textile and Accessories 2006 Expo) was inaugurated on Wednesday by Suryadharma Ali, the State Minister for Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises.

The expo which will be on for five days has 300 participants with the Textile Museum being one of them. It is the second event of its kind promoted by the Ministry with first being an expo on leather and leather-products.

Two more are in the pipeline with third based on expo of crafts and Muslim attire scheduled to start on September, 27 followed by the expo based on furniture and ceramics in October.

A famous designer, Harry Darsono who is supporter of small and medium enterprises said that the local enterprises were having problems in the promotion and marketing of their products.

Owner of a batik factory in Pekalongan, Failasuf was happy to be a part of expo saying that he used to face problem in promoting and marketing his products.
