Kashmiri artisans make history at craftsmanship awards

Three renowned craftsmen from Kashmir have been conferred upon master craftsmanship awards titled 'Shilp Guru Award' by Vice-President Bhairo Singh Shekhawat in a glittering ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan.
The award, considered as highest in crafts was given to Ali Mohammad Baigh in Sozini Craft, Khalil Kalwal in wood carving and Ghulam Mohammad Qazi of Khawaja Bazar in carpet weaving.
The award consists of one mounted board coin, one shawl and a citation along with financial assistance of Rs7.50 lakh. This year's awards are important as for the first time craftsmen belonging to Kashmir have received them.
