The recent exhibition at the Textile Museum at Weisdale Mill hosted by THE TRUSTEES of Shetland Textile Working Museum and members of the Spinners, Weavers and Knitters Guild received an overwhelming response from the guests as well other visitors at the show.

The resounding success of the show is mainly attributable to Shetland Museum curator Tommy Watt, the Shetland Amenity Trust, and to all who donated items.

It was both exciting and exhilarating to witness a worldwide acknowledgement of the expert work of lace and Fair Isle, which was traditional to the isles.

A collection of over 400 items have been photographed and catalogued and stored safely in the Shetland Museum until they move into new premises.

The exhibition that made a humble beginning in 1986 has gone on to become a very successful annual affair of textiles over the years, thanks to the yeomen service rendered by Shetland women.

The guild members continue to meet on monthly basis throughout the Isles and are more than happy to welcome enthusiastic visitors.
