Style not fashion is mantra for D&G and Armani

Fashion week in Milan got off to a start with two shows which were not really about fashion, even though the reasons may be different.

The younger arm of Dolce&Gabbana, D&G was a diffusion labels. D&G has struggled to hold on to its original appeal with Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen and Chloe all following suit.

Diffusion label is used to catch cooler version of its parents brand's image. D&G has decided to use its molto sexy image in the clothes to be worn by ladies of the night.

Items and designs like stilettos with spikes, leopard print pencil skirts, patent leather hotpants which should have been Soho boutique, were on catwalk.

Giorgio Armani's show looked quite similar to D&G collections. They included tasteful summer frocks, an endless selection of ladylike jackets, narrowed peasant skirts, and more pairs of loose, low trousers.

It would not be an exggegeration to say that Armani is not a fashion freak to be precise. The press note that was with the show had used 'style' more than six times as this is the secret of Armani. Clothes are always indifferent to the madness of trendy fashion fraternity.
